Susan Gray Ward

Susan Gray Ward, 64, of 4004 Virginia Road, Tyner, NC, died Saturday, November 16, 2013 in Vidant Chowan Hospital. Miss Ward was born in Suffolk, VA and was the daughter of the late James F. "Capp" and Vivian Webb Ward. A retired nurse's assistant from both Chowan Hospital and Britthaven Nursing Home, she was a member of Warwick Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and was active in the W.M.U. Other enjoyments included the fellowship she shared as a member of the Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church Walking Group. Surviving are her brother, Jimmy Ward and wife Carolyn of Tyner; two nieces, Rachel Ward of Tyner and Sarah Lage and husband Richard of Wichita Falls, TX; and a nephew, Jason Ward and wife Kristen, and their daughter, Taylor Rose Ward of Tyner; and many other extended family members and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Warwick Baptist Church by the Rev. Frank Ellington. Burial will follow in the Ward Family Cemetery on Sign Pine Road. Friends may join the family Monday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and other times at Jimmy and Carolyn's home, 3951 Virginia Road.
