Miles Gordon Brown, Sr.

Miles Gordon Brown, Sr., 83, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from complications due to Parkinson's disease. The youngest son of the late Nannie Hudson Brown and Oscar Hubert Brown, he was born June 29, 1930, in Edenton, and graduated from Greenville High School in 1949. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1952, serving during the Korean War. Earning his Associate's Degree from Long Beach City College, he retired from Pasadena Municipal Court as the Court Administrator in 1986. He had lived in Las Vegas, NV since 1988. Miles is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dolores Schulte Brown and his sister, Doris Petty Rodormer (George). In addition, he is survived by his children: Linda Brown (John Douglas), Miles G. Brown, Jr. (Cathrein), and Nancy Syzdek (Steven Weaver), and his grandchildren: John Miles Douglas, Wesley Douglas, Gordon Brown, Ibtisam Brown, Caroline Syzdek, and Andrew Syzdek. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton. Burial with military honors will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Memorial contribution in his memory may be made to the Heaven Can Wait Animal Rescue or to the Keep Memory Alive Foundation at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in Las Vegas.
