William Ballard Pierce, Jr.

William Ballard "Bill" Pierce, Jr., 67, of 347 Mexico Road, Edenton, NC, died Saturday, December 7, 2013 in his home. Mr. Pierce was born in Bertie County, was the son of the late William B., Sr. and Viola Byrum Pierce, and the husband of the late JoAnn Hughes Pierce. Retired from United Parcel Service, he was a member of Unanimity Masonic Lodge #7, was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and was an avid fisherman. Surviving are two sons, Charlie Ballard "Chuck" Pierce and wife June, and Keith Wayne Pierce and wife Nicole, all of Edenton; three grandchildren, Virginia Leigh "Jinny" Pierce, William Jackson "Jack" Pierce, and Jayden Nicole Pierce; a sister, Sylvia Monds of Tyner; his mother-in-law, Doris Hughes of Edenton; and his care-giver and companion, Gloria Wheeler of Edenton. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton. A private inurnment in the family columbarium at Beaver Hill Cemetery will follow at a later time. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the chapel service on Wednesday, and all other times at the residence.
