Joan Cayton Rudd

Joan Cayton Rudd, 69, of 1341 Paradise Road, Edenton, NC, went home to be with her Lord, on Wednesday, December 11, 2013. Joan was born in Chowan County and was the daughter of the late Rev. Preston E. and Annie Estelle VanHorn Cayton. A beautician, she was the former owner and operator of Joan's Boutique, and was a member of Open Door Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Geneva Gadow and Paige Tucker, and by brothers Rodney, Carl, and Jamie Cayton. Surviving are her son, Kevin Forehand of Southern Pines; three sisters, Syble Harrell of Edenton, Jean Cayton of Grimesland, and Faye Maira of Wilmington; a granddaughter, Sawyer Forehand, and a grandson, Jackson Forehand; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, by the Rev. Ricky Bishop. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Thursday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home and other times at the home of Syble and Roy Harrell, 200 South Oakum Street, Edenton.
