Mark Randolph Aydlett, 72, of 100 Timmerman Drive, Elizabeth City, NC, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 in Heritage Care of Elizabeth City. Mr. Aydlett was born in Currituck County and was the son of the late Mark Layfette and Katie Elizabeth Simpson Aydlett. A retired carpenter and heavy equipment operator, for many years he had served as chief with the Lower Currituck County Fire Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Alethia, Mildred, and Ruth, and two brothers, Guy and Aubrey. Surviving are his wife, Cloey Melson Park of Powells Point; two daughters, Denise Stallings and husband Ronald of Elizabeth City and Hattie Paige Coppock of Florida; a granddaughter, Jessica Stallings; and a great-granddaughter, Kimberlyn Stallings. Also surviving are Choey's two daughters, Pamela Dickerson and husband James Paschal and Susan Carlen, all of Virginia Beach, VA; her son, William Park and wife Tari of South Carolina; and six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A graveside memorial service will be Saturday, January 4, 2014 in the Aydlett Family Cemetery in Grandy.
