Thomas Floyd "Tom" Davis, 71, of 108 Dakota Trail, Edenton, NC, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in Vidant Chowan Hospital. Mr. Davis was born January 23, 1942 in San Francisco, CA and was the son of the late James A. and Lela Mae Gooch Davis. A salesman in the automotive industry, he had worked at The Perry Auto Group in Elizabeth City, Duke Automotive in Suffolk, VA, and more recently had been working with Edenton Motors. A talented musician, he particularly loved the brass instruments, and had played in several area churches and performed "Taps" at funeral services for many veterans. He had served in the United States Air Force. Surviving are his wife, Gloria Walker Davis; daughters, Catherine Dove of Billing, MT and Jeannette Wayland of Irvine, CA; sons, Tommy Davis of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and David Robertson of San Francisco, CA; step-children, Paul Ainsley of Edenton and Melissa Lee of Lonoke, AK; a brother, Jimmy Davis of San Bruno, CA; and 13 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by the Rev. Ron Parr. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the chapel service, and all other times at the residence.
