William Alexander "Bill" Elliott, Jr., 65, of 203 W. Second Street, Edenton, NC, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in his home. Bill was born in Chowan County on July 6, 1948, and was the son of the late William A., Sr. and Lillie Mae Saunders Elliott. Retired from the Chowan County 911 Emergency Communications Center as a Senior Telecommunicator, he had worked many years as a dispatcher from the Edenton Police Dept. and had been made an Honorary Policeman in Edenton, was a member of Open Door Church, and was actively involved in the Albemarle Emmaus and Chrysalis communities, and the Kairos Prison Ministry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy E. Flynn. Surviving are his sister, Peggy E. Harmon of St. Marys, GA; a niece, five nephews, and many extended family members and friends. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in Open Door Church by Pastors Stephen Mizell and Ricky Bishop. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Open Door Church, and all other times at the residence.
