Frances Douglas Sawyer, 86, of 210 Chepanoe Trail, Edenton, NC, died Thursday, January 16, 2014 in her home. Mrs. Sawyer was born on September 26, 1927 in Williamsburg County, SC, and was the daughter of the late John William and Pearl Perry Douglas. She had retired as an office manager in the Real Estate field. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by both her husbands, Beauford McDaniel and William Herman Sawyer; a son, John Beauford McDaniel; sisters, Eunice Baxley and Elizabeth Hanna; and by a grandson, J.B. McDaniel. Surviving are four daughters, Leila Dillard and husband George of Bennettsville, SC, Frances Ann Cox of Hemingway, SC, Essie Morgan and husband Barry of Corning, Arkansas, and Katherine McDaniel of Edenton; a son, Samuel McDaniel of Cable, Wisconsin; three sisters, Margie Cox, Lena Avant, and Nell Barnes; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 5 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be officiated by long-time family friend, Bud Sowers.
