David L. Bass, 80, of 217 Emperor Landing Road, Edenton, NC, went home to his eternal reward with our Lord on Saturday morning, February 1, 2014. Born in Chowan County, he was the son of the late W. Sanford and Corinne Emminizer Bass. A partner in the former Swindell-Bass Funeral Home, he later worked and retired from Albemarle Motor Company. He was a lifelong member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where he served for many years as a Deacon and Director of Sunday School. An Army veteran, he served in Germany during the Korean War. He was the loving husband of Margaret Parrish Bass for 58 years. Other survivors include his daughter, Jane Williams and husband Terry of Lillington; two sons, Thomas Bass and wife Michelle of Edenton and Paul Bass and wife Patty of Riverview, New Brunswick, Canada; six grandchildren, Michael Williams and wife Shelly of Edenton, Jennifer Fueston and husband Ben of Plymouth, David, Joshua, Andrew, and Jacob Bass of Edenton; four great-grandchildren, Noah and Cameron Fueston and Mikayla and Britton Williams; and his sister, Evie P. "Pumsy" Bass of Edenton. A worship service to celebrate his life will be held Tuesday, Feb. 4th, at 11:00 a.m. in Macedonia Baptist Church, with his pastor, The Rev. Bob Young, officiating. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, is assisting the family with arrangements. Friends may join the family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home, and all other times at the residence.
