Josiah Ward Proctor

Josiah Ward Proctor, 72, of 2635 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, NC, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Monday, February 3, 2014 in Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City. Mr. Proctor was born in Perquimans County and was the son of the late Josiah Roscoe and Addie Mae Ward Proctor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann James Proctor. Surviving are his son, Dwayne A. Proctor and wife Lisa of Hertford, two daughters, Michelle Dowdy and Kim Proffit and husband Craig, both of Virginia Beach; a sister, Annette Watson and husband Clarence of Hertford; and four grandchildren, Cline and Kylie Proffit, Tori Nixon and Addison Proctor. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, by the Rev. Greg Biggs. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service on Saturday.
