Mary Farley Rogers

Mary Louise Farley Rogers, 90, of 100 Timmerman Drive, Elizabeth City, NC, died Thursday, February 6, 2014 in Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation, Hertford. Mrs. Rogers was born in Tampa, FL and was the daughter of the late Joseph Franklin and Bertha Evans Farley. A retired custodian in the tourism industry, she was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Elizabeth City. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Rogers, a son, Joseph Strejczyk, and a step-son, Tim Rogers. Surviving are her two sons, Michael E. Brown and wife Vonnie of Hertford and Bruce K. Brown and wife Sue of Edenton; and a step-daughter, Priscilla Shellito and husband Robert of Whaleyville, VA. Together Mary Lou and Wilbur shared eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Faith Baptist Church by the Rev. Bryan Pease. A private burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery, Colington, with Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, handling arrangements.
