James Michael Minick

James Michael "Mike" Minick, 50, of 47 Gates Forest Road, Eure, NC, died February 1, 2014 at his home. Mike was born in Alexandria, VA and was the son of the late James Raymond and Janet Charlene Frazier Minick. Employed as a survey engineer in the construction industry, he was a talented musician and especially enjoyed playing the guitar. Surviving are his wife of nearly 13 years, Jeri Lynn Nichols Minick; a daughter, Crystal Minick of Norfolk, VA; a step-daughter, Jessie Williams and husband Jeremy of Camden; two step-sons, Nick Prevatte of Kitty Hawk and James Smith of Elizabeth City; a sister, Dana Hyde of Portsmouth, VA; eight grandchildren including a very special grandson, Carson Taylor; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, by Pastor Adam Gray. Friends may join the family Sunday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home, and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Gates Emergency Ministries (GEMS), 252 NC Hwy 37, Gatesville, NC 27938.
