Archie Calvin Riddick

Archie Calvin Riddick, 91, of 546 Up River Road, Belvidere, NC, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, February, 8, 2014. Mr. Riddick was born on March 2, 1922, in Perquimans County, the son of the late Samuel Nixon and Levert Winslow Riddick. A retired rural carrier with the US Postal Service after 33 years of employment, he was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946. A member of Up River Friends Meeting, he also enjoyed his fellowship in the American Legion and had recently received his 60 year pin recognizing membership in Perquimans Masonic Lodge, A.F. & A.M. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Almyra Layden Riddick; his daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Riddick Shannon; and his sister, Alice Riddick Cullipher. Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Audrey Nixon Riddick; his daughter, Janet Irene Riddick of Kill Devil Hills and her sons, Sean and Bryce O'Neal; his son, Steve Calvin Riddick and wife Joy of Greenville and their children, John Riddick (wife Ashlee) and Anna Riddick; his son, Marvin Glenn Riddick and wife Earline of Winston-Salem and their sons, Nathan Riddick (wife Julia) and Aaron Riddick; his son-in-law, Barry Shannon of Nags Head and his children, Gavin Shannon (wife Kelly) and their children, Aubrey and Layden and Lerryn Spangler (husband Brian) and their children, Ty and Brooklyn. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 15th, at 11:00 a.m. in Up River Friends Meeting, presided by Pastor Richard Wilcox. Burial will follow in the Riddick Family Cemetery. After the graveside rites, friends may join the family in the fellowship hall of the Meeting House. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Up River Friends organ fund (in care of Lynwood Winslow, 1209 Belvidere Road, Belvidere, NC 27919). The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Anna Smith, Ashlay Barclift, and Lori Cartwright for the love and devotion given to their father and Audrey over the last several months. They also recognize and appreciate the caring staff of Vidant Chowan Hospital.
