Corrine Viola Cartwright Johnson, loving wife, mother and grandmother, age 80, of 186 Roanoke Drive, Hertford, NC, died Thursday, February 20, 2014. Mrs. Johnson was born in Kansas City, MO and was the daughter of the late William Franklin and Jessie Mae Long Cartwright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Colleen Peck, and three brothers, Bill, Pat, and Tom Cartwright. A graduate of North Texas State University in Denton, TX, Corrine had been employed for a number of years as an elementary school teacher and also as a medical office manager. She was an active member of the Albemarle Plantation Bridge Club, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and an avid golfer. Surviving are her husband of 59 years, William B. Johnson; two daughters, Joy Lynn Spahr and husband Bruce of Falls Church, VA and Patricia Jean Mueller and husband Mike of Houston, TX; a sister, Vivian Sperry of Kansas City, KS; a brother, Michael Cartwright of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren, Nikki, Travis, Elena, Shane and Ryan; and a great-grandson on the way. A memorial service will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church by The Reverend John H. Bonner, III. Friends may join the family in the church Parish Hall immediately following the service.
