Graydon Jordan, 93, formerly of Beaufort, NC, died Tuesday, February 25, 2014 in Cypress Glen Retirement Community, Greenville. Mr. Jordan was born in Chowan County on October 5, 1920, one of eight children of the late Noah Edward and Mattie Ethel Ward Jordan. A retired farmer, he had also retired as an aircraft maintenance foreman with Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point. As a child he was a member of and attended Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church, but after moving to Beaufort, became a member of Tuttles Grove United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Mildred Knott and Nina Byrum, and by brothers, McIhrie, Forrest, L.B., and Rudolph Jordan. Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Evelyn Taylor Jordan; his brother, Eugene Jordan and wife Vivian of Tyner; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Parr. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will assemble at the church at 10:30 a.m. in preparation for services. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to either Tuttles Grove U.M.C., 1989 Hwy 101, Beaufort, NC 28516, or to Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church, 3025 Virginia Road, Tyner, NC 27980.
