Brenda Faye Smith, 61, of Scotts Ridge Trail, Apex, NC, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014 in Hospice of Wake County. Brenda was born on November 1, 1952 in Washington County, and was the daughter of W. Earl Smith of Edenton and the late Delcie Jordan Smith. Retired after 27 years in administrative services with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, she was a member of Woodhaven Baptist Church. In addition to her father she is survived by her sister, Betty S. Bunch and husband Wayne of Edenton; two nieces, Teresa Brannon and husband Bryan of Apex and Sonya Rinehart and husband Ben of Edenton; a nephew, Adam Bunch and wife Dawn of Edenton; five great-nieces, Ellie, Bailey, Ava, Aubryn, and Adeline; two great-nephews, Matthew and Nathan; and a special friend, Jimmy Bostic of Garner. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by The Reverend Brent Rector. A private inurnment will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the chapel service, and other times at the home of her sister, 325 Evans-Bass Road, Edenton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jimmy V Foundation, (wwwjimmyv.org) or either at The V Foundation, 106 Towerview Court, Cary, NC 27513.
