Wanda Lock Overton

Wanda Lock Overton, 85, of 120 Muddy Creek Road, Hertford, NC, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 in W.R. Winslow Memorial Home, Elizabeth City. Mrs. Overton was born in Brooklyn, NY and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Fonnie Mae Hardett Lock. A homemaker, she had also been a self-employed clothing designer for many years. She was a member of the Hertford Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Overton. Surviving are her step-daughter, Valerie Lynn Overton of Hertford; a sister, Ruth Smith of High Point; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends and neighbors. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the Kingdom Hall, 224 West Main Street, Winfall. Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, assisted the family with the cremation arrangements.
