Ramona Goodwin Maxwell

Ramona Goodwin "Monie" Maxwell, 83, of 114 West Godfrey Lane, Hertford, and formerly of Clipper Drive, died Saturday, April 19, 2014 in her home. Mrs. Maxwell was born in Norfolk, VA and was the daughter of the late Brooks Malachi and Verla Iva Atkins Goodwin. A retired clerk from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, she was a former member of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Norfolk, VA and more recently had been a member of both Chapel on the Sound and Island Christian Fellowship. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Derwood Scott Maxwell, Sr., her sons, Derwood Scott "Scotty" Maxwell, Jr. and an infant son, a sister, Virginia Prunier, and a brother, Randy "Bubba" Goodwin. Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Susan of Hertford; three grandsons, Brian, Brett, and Khris; four great-grandchildren, Alayna, Elizabeth, Landon, and Brynn; and many cousins and extended family members. According to her wishes, no services will be held. Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, is assisting the family with arrangements.
