Harry Ambrose Spruill, Jr.

Harry Ambrose Spruill, Jr., 68, formerly of Edenton and Raleigh, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, April 25, 2014. Mr. Spruill was born in Bertie County and was the son of the late Harry A., Sr. and Helen Rae Harris Spruill. A retired building contractor, he had been a member of Edenton Baptist Church, and after moving to Raleigh joined the fellowship of Providence Baptist Church. Mr. Spruill had served in the North Carolina Army National Guard. Surviving are his daughter, Lisa Spruill Hughes and husband Stan of Mt. Pleasant, SC; his son, Christopher Ransom Spruill and wife Susan of Marietta, GA; four grandchildren, Austin and Chandler Hughes and Elijah and Coley Spruill; his sister, Carolyn S. Moss and husband Jim of Raleigh; and two brothers, Wayne Spruill and wife Cynthia, and Michael Spruill, all of Edenton. A Celebration of his Life will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton. Officiating the service will Dr. Melvin Styons and Minister Jerry Norris. Family participants will be his son Chris Spruill and grandson, Austin Hughes. Burial will follow in the family plot at Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Thursday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
