Wayne Greene

Herman Wayne Greene, Jr., 59, of 134 Main Street, Gatesville, NC, died Saturday, May 10, 2014 as the result of a boating accident on the Chowan River. Wayne was born in Hertford County on September 12, 1954 and was the son of the late Herman Wayne, Sr. and Margaret Whitley Greene. He had worked as a heavy equipment operator in the logging industry. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry L. Greene. Surviving are his son, Shayne C. Greene of Gatesville; three sisters, Anna Belle Jernigan of Suffolk, VA, Patricia Connolly of Windsor, VA, and Margie G. Babb of South Mills; and two brothers, Clyde Greene of Franklin, VA and Larry T. Greene of Gatesville. A graveside service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Oak Grove Christian Church Cemetery by the Rev. Tom Hall.
