Harold Clayton Smith, Sr.

Harold Clayton Smith, Sr., 86, of Mobile Home Park Lane, Sunbury, NC, died Sunday, May 11, 2014 in his home. Mr. Smith was born in Lynn, MA on January 2, 1928 and was the son of the late Joseph and Elsie Louise Butler Smith. A retired supervisor with Naval Sea Support Center Atlantic, he attended Beulah Baptist Church. A veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, he had served in the United States Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lona Frances Smith. Surviving are a daughter, Darlene Marie Brown and husband Michael of Virginia Beach; six sons, Harold Clayton Smith, Jr. and wife Janice and Stephen Wayne Smith and wife Diane, all of Chesapeake, Joseph Smith and wife Paula of Norfolk, and Kenneth Curtis Smith, Timothy Mark David Smith, and Derek Thomas Smith, all of Virginia Beach; six grandchildren, Robert, Julia, Ryan, Curtis, Ashley, and Danielle; five great-grandchildren; and four step-children, Kathy Zeman, and Terry, Chris, and Jim Tomlinson.
