Betty Lou Lane Owens

Betty Lou Lane Owens, 70, of 341 River Road, Edenton, NC, died Friday, May 30, 2014 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton. Mrs. Owens was born in Chowan County on July 1, 1943 and was the daughter of the late Henry Thomas and Cassie Nixon Lane. A homemaker, she was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Carole Owens, and by her brother, Ronnie Lane. Surviving are her husband of nearly 51 years, William Lloyd "Billy" Owens; three daughters, Diana Owens Riddick and husband William of Edenton, Angela Owens Hassell and husband Bryant of Roper, and Teresa Owens Stallings and husband Heath of Hobbsville; a son, James Owens and wife Amanda of Edenton; ten grandchildren, Dana, Nathan, Erin, Corey, Justin, Amanda, Kimberly, Jessica, Steven, and Austin; and three great-grandchildren, Samantha, Logan, and Skylar. Graveside services will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m. in the Nixon Family Cemetery by the Rev. Randy Browder. Friends may join the family Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and other times at the residence.
