Marion Edward Terry, Jr., 78, of 110 S. McMorrine St., Elizabeth City, NC, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City. Mr. Terry was born in Pennsylvania County, VA and was the son of the late Marion Edward Terry, Sr. and Gracie McGregor Carmichael. A retired commercial truck driver, he attended Harmony Independent Baptist Church in Camden. He was an Army veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Layne Terry. Surviving are his three daughters, Deborah Green and husband Billy of Chesapeake, VA, Trena Cooper and husband Wayne of Hertford, and Karla Wade and husband Mark of New Hope, AL; a son, Denny Ray Terry of Danville, VA; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A gathering for friends to join and visit with the family will be held Saturday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the home of his daughter, Trena Cooper, 970 Chapanoke Road, Hertford. Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, assisted the family with the cremation arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to either Freedom Farm Ministries, PO Box 153, Boone, NC 28607 or to Harmony Independent Baptist Church, 112 Hwy 343 S., Camden, NC 27921.
