Hazel Baldauf Lodwig

Hazel Dorothy Baldauf Lodwig, 94, of 340 Rayburn Lane, Hertford, NC, and formerly of Oakdale, NY, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014 in Carolina House of Elizabeth City. Mrs. Lodwig was born in Queens County, NY and was the daughter of the late Bernard and Elizabeth Emery Baldauf. A homemaker, she was a member of Babylon United Methodist Church in Babylon, NY. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin Lodwig, a son, Richard Lodwig, three sisters, Julia Kirgen, Vi Coghlan, and Eva Blazek, and by three brothers, Harry, Jim, and Reggie Baldauf. Surviving are her daughter, Marjorie Rayburn and husband Walker of Hertford; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Lodwig of New Market, MD; six grandchildren, Richard Arthur Lodwig, Christine Bednarick, Rebecca Frank, Stuart Rayburn, Brian Rayburn, and Cynthia Linton; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 14th, at 11:00 a.m. in Hertford United Methodist Church by Chaplain Corbin Cherry. Friends may join the family Saturday, June 7th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and other times at the residence.
