Margaret Dale Davis, 88, of 3354 Rocky Hock Road, Edenton, NC and formerly of Gates County, died Thursday, June 5, 2014 in Chowan River Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Edenton. Mrs. Davis was born on March 12, 1926, and was the daughter of the late Thomas William and Helen Ward Dale. A retired inspector with United Piece & Dye Works, she was a member of Damascus Christian Church in Sunbury. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart Alfred Davis, Sr., a daughter, Judy Peele, sisters Alice and Gladys Williams, and by her brother, Wilson Dale. Surviving are her daughter, Marie Rountree and husband James Ralph of Sunbury; her son, Stuart Davis, Jr. of Edenton; her son-in-law, Clinton Peele; four grandchildren, Dawn Harrell and husband Jason, Erin Eure and husband Bryan, Laura Walker, and Steven Davis; and by five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m. in Damascus Christian Church by the Rev. Wayne Gardner. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the funeral service, and all other times at Marie and James Ralph's home, 76 Keys Crossroads, Sunbury.
