Allen Daniel Wotring

Allen Daniel Wotring, 80, of 215 Crescent Drive, died Friday, June 6, 2014 in his home. Mr. Wotring was born in Florida on July 14, 1933, and was the son of the late Allen Jacob and Pauline Hutchison Wotring. A veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, he retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Following his military career, he later retired from the Norfolk Naval Air Station where he had worked for 20 years. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Frances Ann Spinelle Wotring; a daughter, Donna Stegeman of Norfolk, VA; a son, Donald Warren and wife Janet of Chesapeake, VA; four grandchilren, April Mann, Rebecca Gear, Alec Warren, and Ashley Fortis; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford. Burial with military honors will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence.
