Louise Mansfield Small

Louise Mansfield Small, 92, of 9211 NC Hwy 32 North, Roper, NC, died Saturday, June 7, 2014 in Washington County Hospital, Plymouth, NC. Mrs. Small was born in Perquimans County on January 3, 1922 and was the daughter of the late John Henry and Lula Corprew Mansfield. A homemaker, she had been a member of Roper Baptist Church for over 60 years, and had as long as health permitted, remained active and faithful, serving in many capacities of the church's work. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Wilson Small; sisters, Henrietta Davenport, Clara Thatch, Ruth Mansfield, and Lula Mae Ward; and by brothers, Raymond, Henry, and James Mansfield. Surviving are three daughters, Carolyn Small White, and Alice Small Edwards and husband Ronnie, all of Roper, and Susan Small Thompson and husband Terry of Plymouth; a son, James Richard Small and wife Linda of Roper; a special cousin she grew up with, Blanche Chappell of Norfolk, VA; eight grandchildren, Gregory White and wife Kathryn, Bryan White and wife Leigh, Todd Edwards and wife Laura, Melanie Edwards, Crystal Hughes and husband Daniel, Jennifer Hawthorne and husband Shawn, Scott Thompson and Laura Thompson; and seven great-grandchildren, Brandon White, Sarah White, Cameron Edwards, Rachael Edwards, Ashton Harrison, Hayden Hawthorne, and Emma Hawthorne. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Roper Baptist Church by the Rev. Howard Simpson. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery, Edenton. Friends may join the family in the church on Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., or again in the church immediately following the service and prior to the family's procession to the grave.
