Melvin Lee McClenney, 81, of 2608 Virginia Road, Edenton, NC, died Saturday, June 14, 2014 in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, NC. Mr. McClenney was born in Portsmouth, VA on November 1, 1932 and was the son of the late John and Essie Wilmoth McClenney. The owner and operator of McClenney Floor Service, he was a member of Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mike McClenney. Surviving are his wife of nearly 62 years, Janie Nixon McClenney; two sons, Dennis McClenney and wife Linda, and Larry McClenney, all of Edenton; a daughter-in-law, Sherry Dianne McClenney of White House, TN; six grandchildren, Crystal, Sheila, Kevin, LaDonna, Lisa, and Michael; and eight great-grandchildren, Jacob, Autumn, Logan, Allyssa, Austin, Cayden, Marcus, and Makenlea. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Revs. Danny Gurganus and Russell Bootwright. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
