Myrtle Hill Piland

Myrtle Hill Piland, 94, of Winfall Blvd, Hertford, NC, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014 in Hertford Assisted Living Center. Mrs. Piland was born in Chowan County on October 24, 1919, was the daughter of the late James and Lina Belch Hill, and sister of Julia, Della Mae, Georgia, and Eunice. A homemaker, she was a member of Hertford Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Piland, she is survived by her son, John E. Piland, Jr. and wife June of Clayton; two grandchildren, Tiffany Posil and husband Benjamin of Washington, D.C. and Daniel Piland and wife Wanda of Clayton; and three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Cameron Piland, and Grace Posil. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, by the Rev. H. Gene Boyce. Private burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the services on Saturday.
