Marshall Hawkins Creech, 78, of 108 Pike Drive, Elizabeth City, NC, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014 in his home. Mr. Creech was born in Johnston County, NC on February 7, 1936, and was the son of the late William Norwood and Rachel Winnie White Creech. Retired from Shop 57 at Norfolk Naval Shipyard as an Electronic Instrument Technician, he was a member of Faith Baptist Church, and had served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958, and then in the Army National Guard from 1958 to 1960. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, J.B. Vaughn, a sister, Marjorie Creech-Kowaske, and by brothers, William Ralph Creech and Vernon Creech. Surviving are his wife of nearly 42 years, Lou Ellen Crowder Creech; a daughter, Darlene Creech Vaughn of White Bluff, TN; a son, Marshall Norwood Creech and wife Brenda of Nassau, NY; two step-sons, William Lee Smith and wife Cissy of St. Albans, WV and Robert Steven Smith and wife Darlene of Ripley, WV; a sister, Bonnie Sue Creech Powell of Washington, NC; two brothers, Henry Thomas Creech of Jacksonville, FL and Franklin Earl Creech of Poquoson, VA; and three grandchildren, Shanon Gunderson, Ashley Emle, and Alex Smith. A time of viewing and visitation with the family will be Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m. in Faith Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Bryan Pease will officiate, and military honors will be accorded during the service.
