Evelyn Taylor Jordan, 92, formerly of Beaufort, NC died Friday, July 11, 2014 in Cypress Glen Retirement Community, Greenville. Mrs. Jordan was born in Lenoir County, NC on September 3, 1921, and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bessie Lee Russell Taylor. The former Technical Librarian at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, she was honored upon her retirement by having the newly constructed library at the base named for her. She was a faithful member for over 60 years, and long-time organist at Tuttles Grove United Methodist Church in Beaufort. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Leona; and by her husband of 72 years, Graydon E. Jordan on February 25th of this year. Surviving are three first cousins, Doris Halenda, Mary Gay, and Bill Russell; brother in-law, Eugene Jordan and wife Vivian of Tyner; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Parr. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will assemble at the church at 10:45 a.m. in preparation of services. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, is handling arrangements.
