David Fletcher Jones

David Fletcher "Buddy" Jones, 85, of 020 Drum Hill Road, Corapeake, NC, died Friday, July 18, 2014 in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, VA. Buddy was born in Gates County on December 9, 1928 and was the son of the late Tommy Richard and Coraneen Mathias Jones. A retired farmer, he was a member of Savage's United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Wilson Jones, a sister, Aileen Casper, and by his brother, Thomas Earl Jones. Surviving are his sister, Mary Elizabeth Umphlette, and his special friend and companion, Linda Vann, both of Suffolk; and by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Parker's United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Mike Askew. Friends may join the family Monday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and other times at the residence.
