Carol Jeanette Bell Dunlow, "Sugar", 77, of Merry Hill, NC, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. She lived up to her nickname "Sugar" through her sweet disposition and kind and gentle spirit. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she was loved by all and will be missed by her entire community. "Sugar" was born on January 25, 1937, the daughter of the late Essie and Rupert Bell of Ahoskie, and the second of their six children. On September 23, 1956, she married Walter Sherman "Bud" Dunlow, and as an Army wife traveled and lived throughout the United States and overseas. Upon Sherman's retirement, they returned to Merry Hill. Left to cherish her memory is a son, S. Allen Dunlow and wife Susan; and two daughters, Judy Collier and husband Mitch, and Dana Lyle and husband Donald. Also left to remember her warm embrace and never ending support are her seven grandchildren, her "pride and joy"; Michael, Morgan, and Ryan Dunlow, Dana and Kelly Collier, and Bailey and Brooke Lyle. Also surviving are her sister, Marie Bazemore, and brothers, Sidney and Jerry Bell. In addition to her parents and husband, "Sugar" was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Rudy Bell. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Riverside Baptist Church, Merry Hill. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
