Ann Stallings Butt, 77, of 1223 Woodville Road, Hertford, NC, died Friday, July 25, 2014 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City. Mrs. Butt was born in Perquimans County on September 19, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Carson Lee Stallings, Sr. and Rovena Morse Stallings Lilley. A retired bookkeeper, she was a lifelong member of New Hope United Methodist Church where she had served as treasurer, was a member of the United Methodist Women, and was the church's pianist/organist for more than 60 years. She also had been the treasurer for many years of the Mullen Cemetery Fund. Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Harvey Butt; two daughters, Karen Butt Mazik and husband Bruce of Kill Devil Hills and Annette Butt Winslow of Hertford; a son, Carl Butt and wife Stacy of Hertford; a sister, Audrey Jones, and a brother, Lee Stallings, both of Hertford; six grandchildren, Nicole and Faith Ann Mazik, James Harvey and Lucas Winslow, Erica Colson, and Allison Copeland; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday at 4:00 p.m. in New Hope United Methodist Church by the Rev. C. Renee` Edwards, pastor. Burial will follow in the Mullen Cemetery with Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, Hertford, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family at the residence.
