D. Lindy Eure

Dempsey Lindburg "Lindy" Eure, 83, of 274 Harrell's Church Road, Gatesville, NC, died Tuesday, August 5, 2014 in his home. Mr. Eure was born in Gates County on October 19, 1930 and was the son of the late Henry Lee and Nora Harrell Eure. Retired after 30 years from the roll finishing department at Union Camp Corp. in Franklin, VA, he had also worked as a farmer and had been a grower for Perdue Farms. He was a member of Eure Christian Church. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Margaret Winslow Eure; three daughters, Linda Schocklin and husband Howard of Suffolk, Robin Eure and husband Buddy of Kill Devil Hills, and Mary Kathryn Eure of Gatesville; two sons, Joe Eure and wife Donna of Atlanta and Kenny Eure and wife Jennie of Gatesville; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in Eure Christian Church by the Rev. Michael Brinkley. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church immediately following services, and all other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to either the Gates County Rescue Squad, or the Gatesville Volunteer Fire Dept., both in Gatesville, NC 27938.
