Scott James Harris

Scott James Harris, 74, of 36 Mill Run Road, Corapeake, NC, died Sunday, August 17, 2014 in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk. Mr. Harris was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on August 24, 1939, and was the son of the late John Thomas and Lynette Catherine Fuller Harris. A retired civil service employee, his field of specialty involved satellite communications. A US Navy veteran, he served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Surviving are his wife of nearly 54 years, Lois Ann Hewitt Harris; two daughters, Carenne H. McPherson and husband Bobby of Corapeake and Kimberly H. Borum and husband Bennie of Richmond, VA; two sons, Scott B. Harris and wife Jill of Severna Park, MD and T. Earl Harris and wife Michelle of Smithfield, VA; a brother, Rusty Harris and wife Pamela of Kansas City, MO; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, by the Rev. Tom Hall. Burial will be private.
