Frances Bailey Carr

Frances Bailey Carr, 89, of 206 Montpelier Drive, Edenton, NC, died peacefully, Sunday, September 7, 2014 in Roanoke Landing Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Plymouth. Born in Lawrenceburg, Anderson County, Kentucky on December 13, 1924, she loved good food, cooking, socializing, as well as reading and going to the beach with family and friends. Frances loved her family, friends and dogs, and rarely in that order. A sign in her room said it all, "Dogs welcome, people tolerated". She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Ellen Baxter and a brother, Mitchell Bailey. Surviving are her loving husband of 46 years, James David "Jim" Carr; two daughters, Kay Baxter Gleaton of Vine Grove, KY and Jill Whitten Baxter of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; two grandsons, Benjamin J. "Chip" Gleaton of Radcliff, KY and CPO David Curtis Gleaton of Norfolk, VA; a great-granddaughter, Kimber Gleaton of Bismarck, ND; and her beloved fur babies. The family is grateful for all the love, prayers, and support in many heartfelt forms, too many to name individually, but including the wonderful staff of Roanoke Landing Nursing Center and Community Home Care and Hospice, through prayers, visits, cards and random acts of kindness from total strangers. In keeping with her wishes, no services will be held. Interment will be private in the family plot in Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to either Shriners Hospitals for Children, in care of Khedive Temple, 645 Woodlake Dr., Chesapeake, VA 23320 or to PAWS-Ability, PO Box 614, Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.millerfhc.com.
