Ada Overman Barco

Ada Overman Barco, 74, of Four Forks Road, Shawboro, NC, died Saturday, September 20, 2014 in Winslow Memorial Home, Elizabeth City. Mrs. Barco was born on December 29, 1939 in Pasquotank County and was the daughter of the late George S. and Beulah White Overman. A homemaker, she was a faithful and active member of Providence Baptist Church and its W.M.U. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Carlton Barco; sisters, Carolyn Bright and Rebecca Overman; and brothers, Walter and Ray Overman. Surviving are two daughters, Linda Barco Godfrey and husband Dennis, and Sandra Barco Jones and husband Wayne, all of Camden; a sister, Barbara Chory of Elizabeth City; three brothers, Leonard Overman of Hertford, and George Overman and Leon Overman, both of Elizabeth City; and three grandchildren, Bobby Jones and wife Danielle, Megan Godfrey, and Daniel Godfrey. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. in Providence Baptist Church by the Rev. Charles Stevens. A private entombment will be held in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the service, and all other times at Linda and Dennis's home, 180 South Mill Dam Road, Camden. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Providence Baptist Church, 765 Shawboro Road, Shawboro, NC 27973.
