Nola Riggs Hensley

Nola Mae Riggs Hensley, 88, of 328 Pamlico Trial, Edenton, NC, died Monday, September 29, 2014 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton. Mrs. Hensley was born in Pineville, KY on May 14, 1926, and was the daughter of the late William Sherman and Irene Riggs. A homemaker, in earlier years she had worked as a nurse. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Gilford Hensley, Sr.; a son-in-law, Jerome Giles; a grandson, Jerry Giles; and a granddaughter, Breanne Meghan Upton. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Bernadette Upton and husband Johnny of South Mills and Nola Mae Giles of Corapeake; a son, Ralph G. Hensley, Jr. and wife Diana of Waldorf, MD; five grandchildren, Robbie Upton, Jr., Jonathan Ryan Upton, Emily Giles Acerb, Adriane Crawford, and Chet Hensley; and six great-grandchildren, Horace, Hayes, Caroline, Jase, Glory, and Libby. Funeral services will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by the Rev. Charlie Ullom. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
