Fred Edward Keeter, Sr., 85, of 361 Yeopim Road, Edenton, NC, died Tuesday, September 30, 2014 in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville. Mr. Keeter was born in Bertie County on June 14, 1929 and was the son of the late John Washington and Ella Priscilla Castelloe Keeter. A National Hardwood Lumber Inspector, he had retired from Williams Lumber Company at Mackey's. A member and deacon of Edenton Baptist Church, he was the secretary/treasurer of the Lloyd Griffin Sunday School Class, and had taught Sunday school for more than 50 years. Mr. Keeter had served in the North Carolina National Guard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Bunch Keeter; a daughter, Deborah L. Jordan; sisters, Margaret and Pat; and by brothers, Brinkley, Albert, Jim, John, Melvin, Carl, and Luther. Surviving are his wife of 12 years, Lois Brabble Keeter; three daughters, Susan K. Campbell of Pinehurst, Karen K. Collins and husband Doug of Morristown, TN, and Mary B. Cole and husband Adam of Edenton; five sons, Fred E. Keeter, Jr. and wife Regina of Edenton, Richard B. Keeter and wife Christine of Claremore, OK, Steven D. Keeter of Chula Vista, CA, Robert A. Keeter of New Bern, and John W. Keeter of Boston, MA; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Edenton Baptist Church by the Rev. David Brooks and the Rev. Ashby Browder. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and other times at the residence.
