Hallie Rae Bunch Lane, 86, of 1173 Belvidere Road, Belvidere, NC, died Saturday, October 4, 2014 in her home. Mrs. Lane was born on September 14, 1928 in Gates County and was the daughter of the late Joseph Haywood and Inez Copeland Bunch. As a child, she was raised in the fellowship of Sandy Cross Baptist Church, later became a member of Up River Friends Meeting where she was a longtime member of the Elizabeth White Missionary Circle, and in more recent years had attended Faith Baptist Church in Elizabeth City. Working with the United States Postal Service for 32 years, she retired as Postmaster of the Winfall office. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Nelson Lane; sisters, Allie Mae White, Ruby Evans, and Callie Bunch; and by brothers, Hillard, Lindsay, Murray, and Otis Bunch. Surviving are her daughter, June L. Wampole and husband Mark of Hillsborough; her son, Dean N. Lane and wife Sharon of Belvidere; five grandchildren, David Shaw and wife Kristin, Jessica Sheets and husband Anthony, Hannah Lane Schoen and husband Brandon, Courtney Lane, and Jordan Lane; and three great-grandchildren, Peyton Shaw, Olivia Schoen, and Matthew Schoen. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Up River Cemetery by the Revs. William Byrum and Bryan Pease. Friends may join the family at the residence.
