Irma Simpson Hudgins

Irma Simpson Hudgins, 85, of NC 37 South, Hobbsville, NC, died Sunday, October 12, 2014 in Down East Health & Rehabilitation, Gatesville. Miss Hudgins was born in Gates County on October 30, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Herbert Cornelius, Sr. and Lucile Simpson Hudgins. A retired secretary, she had worked at R.R. Allen & Son in Suffolk, and also at Lakeview Hospital. A member of Zion United Methodist Church, she had been active in its Adult Ladies Sunday School Class and in the choir. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Marita Jones and Mary Trotter, and by a brother, H.C. Hudgins, Jr. Surviving are her brother, Arthur R. Hudgins of Hampton, VA; four nieces and five nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Zion United Methodist Church by the Rev. Steve Hall. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the service.
