Ronnie Lloyd Sawyer, 68, of 217 Schooner Landing Drive, Edenton, NC, died Wednesday, October 15, 2014 in his home with his wife and daughters by his side. Ronnie was born in Chowan County on September 12, 1946 and was the son of the late Sam Lloyd and Matilda Wright Sawyer. A retired accountant, he currently served as the Chowan County Veteran's Service Officer for the Dept. of Veteran's Affairs. An Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a member of both the Edward G. Bond Post #40 of the American Legion, and Post #40 Sons of the Legion, a former member of the Edenton Lions Club, had served on the Board of Directors of the Chowan Arts Council, and attended Edenton Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Harriet Barrow Sawyer; two daughters, Rhonda Sawyer Tynch and husband Wayne of Edenton and Boni Sawyer Revelle and husband Dexter of Hertford; a sister, Judy Dean; and two brothers, Jack Sawyer and Alan Sawyer, all of Edenton; and two grandchildren, Allen and Callie Tynch. A gathering for family and friends will be held Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton. A private burial of his cremated remains, with military honors being rendered, will be held at a later time in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
