Janet Dail Cartwright

Janet Dail Cartwright, 63, of 802 West Grubb Street, Hertford, NC, died Friday, October 24, 2014 in her home. Mrs. Cartwright was born in Perquimans County on October 27, 1950 and was the daughter of the late Murray and Myrtle Winslow Dail. A retired Family Consumer Science teacher, she had taught for a total of 33 years in both Perquimans and Bertie County Public Schools. She was a member of Anderson United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Matthew Nixon; a sister, Mary Ruth Hill; and a step-daughter, Cindy Bindo. Surviving are her husband of 24 years, Fenton Cartwright, Sr.; a daughter, Dail N. Midgette and husband Doyle of Knightdale; two step daughters, Arlene Layden and husband Elton of Farmville, VA, Theresa Stallings and husband Ray of Hertford; a step son, Fenton Cartwright, Jr. and wife Kim of Hertford; a brother, Mike Dail and wife Mary of Lewisville; a grandson, Dylan Midgette; eight step grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; and two nieces, three nephews, and three great-nieces. A memorial service will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, by the Rev. Lonnie Coker. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service, and all other times at the residence.
