Margaret Divers Christgau

Margaret Inez Divers Christgau, 88, of 901 Dobbs Street, Hertford, NC, died Thursday, October 30, 2014 in her home. Mrs. Christgau was born in Perquimans County on September 20, 1926 and was the daughter of the late William "W.M." and Margaret Pearl Davis Divers. A retired office manager, she had been employed for over 20 years with a dental practice in Brooklyn, NY. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry William Christgau; four sisters, Naomi Banks, Thelma Nixon, Juanita Divers, and Ramona Elliott; and four brothers, Bill, Preston, Haywood, and James Divers. Surviving are her two daughters, Mary Lou Palumbo of Staten Island, NY and Dolores Grenko and husband Robin of Phoenix, AZ; two sons, Henry "Chris" Christgau, Jr. of Cortland, NY and Louis Christgau of Glen Cove, NY; and a granddaughter, Laura Palumbo and her husband Scott Longo of Staten Island. A memorial service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, by the Rev. H. Gene Boyce. A private burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service on Monday.
