Mozelle Stallings Byrum, 90, of 314 Sign Pine Road, Tyner, NC, died Saturday, November 1, 2014 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton. Mrs. Byrum was born on June 22, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Clinton and Faye Nixon Stallings. A homemaker and farmer's wife, she was a member of Warwick Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Colbert Western Byrum, Sr.; two brothers; Carson and Melvin Stallings; and by a great-granddaughter, Emerson Grace Byrum. Surviving are her daughter, Margie Thomas and husband Calvin of Wake Forest; three sons, Colbert Byrum, Jr. and wife Delores and Curtis Byrum and wife Rose, all of Tyner, and Craig Byrum and wife Vickie of Yorktown, VA; a sister, Isa Ward of Virginia Beach, VA; a brother, Sanford Stallings of New Bern; six grandchildren, Lisa Byrum-Thackray (Greg), Curtis M. Byrum, II (Valerie), Kimberly Forehand (J.C.), James Ellsworth Byrum (Julie), Justin Lynn Byrum (Kristina), and Danna Maddox (Chad); and 13 great-grandchildren, Benjamin Byrum, Ashley Byrum, Taylor Floyd (Matt), Matthew Byrum, Jacob Forehand, Joel Forehand, Allie Byrum, Lucas Byrum, Addison Byrum, Grayson Byrum, Logan Maddox, Haley Maddox, and Riley Maddox. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by the Rev. William Byrum and the Rev. Bob Young. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home, and other times at the residence.
