Charles Everett Winslow

Charles Everett Winslow, 82, of 303 Hiland Park Avenue, Hertford, NC, died Saturday, November 8, 2014 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City. Mr. Winslow was born in Perquimans County on October 12, 1932 and was the son of the late Josiah and Emma Winslow. Raised in the fellowship of Up River Friends Meeting, as an adult he attended Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Retired from chemical sales and manufacturing, he had worked with Lebanon Fertilizer for 32 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Catherine Casper, Clarine Casper, Iona Wilder and Lois Simonds; and by brothers, Brenton and Winston Winslow. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Marjorie Byrum Winslow; a daughter, Cindy Upton and husband Ricky of Elizabeth City; a son, Steve Winslow and wife Doreen of Belvidere; three granddaughters, Ashley Chappell (Michael), and Nikki and Brandi Upton; two grandsons, Petty Officer Eric Chappell (Megan) and Keith Winslow; five great-granddaughters, Tiffany, Aimee, Lilly, and Charleigh Chappell, and Paige Roberts; and by an "adopted" granddaughter and her mom, Tina and Donna Haskett. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, by the Rev. Howard Sutton.
