Bryant Erastus Woodell, 85, of 218 Woodland Circle, Hertford, NC, died Monday, November 10, 2014 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton. Mr. Woodell was born in Chatham County on July 25, 1929 and was the son of the late Erastus Murphy and Louise Holt Woodell. Retired as a master electrician from Weyerhaeuser in Plymouth after 37 years of employment, he was a veteran having served in the US Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Frances Hilliard. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Ernestine Cooke Woodell; two sons, Jimmy Woodell and wife Lynn of Tyner and Phil Woodell and wife Mary of Cary; a sister, Shirley Gullie of Raleigh; six grandchildren, Wes Woodell (Christina), Ryan Woodell (Andrea), Matt Woodell (Lindsey) Sarah Hatchell (Griffin), Lindsey Woodell, and Jackson Woodell; and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in Cedarwood Cemetery with Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family at the residence. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Dr. A.M. Heyder and his staff for all the care and compassion they have provided Mr. Woodell over the years.
