Shirley Copeland Elliott

Shirley Marion Copeland Elliott, 79, formerly of Pender Road, Hertford, NC, and more recently of Albemarle Village, passed away, Thursday, November 13, 2014 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City. Born in Perquimans County on July 29, 1935, she was the second of three children of the late Basil W. and Sylvia Lamb Copeland. A graduate of Perquimans County High School, she had retired as office manager from Edenton Primetime Retirement Center in 2011. Having a love for sports, she enjoyed attending her grandchildren's games, and playing rook and bingo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, L.C. Elliott; her brother, Preston Copeland; and a great-grandson, Lee Perry Kavanagh. Surviving are her daughter, Susie Perry and husband Bryan of Buxton; a son, Charles Elliott and wife Nicole of Hertford; a sister, Sylvia Wrae Morgan of Currituck; four grandchildren, Natalie Perry Kavanagh and husband Jay, Kyle Perry and wife Jessica, Dylan Elliott and Carly Elliott; four great-grandchildren, Joe Kavanagh, IV, Bodey Perry, Thomas Kavanagh and Patrick Kavanagh; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, by the Rev. Gregory Clark. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the home of her son, Charles Elliott, 317 Lake Road, Hertford.
