Emmett Carlton Elmore, 85, of 264 Winfall Blvd., Hertford, NC, died Friday, November 14, 2014 in his home. Mr. Elmore was born in Perquimans County on June 7, 1929 and was the son of the late Stephen E. and Adelia Hedgepeth Elmore. Employed with Major Loomis Lumber Company in his earlier years, he retired from Foreman's Building Supply in Kitty Hawk, and following his retirement had also worked part-time with M.G. Brown in Edenton. A member of Epworth United Methodist Church, he was a charter member of the Perquimans County Rescue Squad. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Glenn A. Elmore; a sister, Nancy L. Elmore; two brothers, Stephen E., Jr. and Ernest C. Elmore; and a granddaughter, Amanda E. Tripp. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Jeannette Chappell Elmore; two daughters, Cynthia E. Clifton and husband Bobby of Roper and Robin E. Lane and husband Ed of Hertford; a son, Larry C. Elmore and wife Linda of Camden; eight grandchildren, Susan, Robert, Alison, Kelly, Treavor, Larry, Jr., Travis, and Troy; and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, by the Rev. Boyce Porter. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
